Flames Eternal
By: Richard Whitcombe
Flames eternal, burning brightly forever.
Being external, we will endeavor,
The superficialities of this spinning orb.
Light bestower, shining ever clear.
Let’s show her, there is more to us here,
That the taunts she breathes, we will absorb.
Flames eternal, bequeather of heat.
Being external, we can’t be beat.
It’s better to die, than to be forgotten.
Light bestower, fly like the dove.
Let’s show her, there is more to love,
Even though we all shall become fallen
Be it to us, to show you who think you are.
But you’ve thought we’ve already gone too far.
Flames eternal, being external, we cannot separate.
As much as you hate it, this thought you cannot calibrate.
You blend into the ash and become bitter in the dust.
You wish that we’ll become one with the astringent rust.
But it is you who blows in the wind, away like the chaff.
You repulse me, with the thought I could be your other half.
We will take our chances,
Never taking second glances,
Charging the future with flames internal.
