Impossible Entrapment
By: Richard Whitcombe
Sin changes the way we act, the way we are.
It taints the perfection of which we were made to be.
To keep our water clean is oh so very hard,
And it can be hopeless far beyond what we can see.
Sometimes I think that why it should be so-
That we try out best for what we know to be impossible.
Back and forth in the crypts of our minds we ponder,
How can something so complex be so understandable?
If sin is avoided in our lives we live happier lives, correct?
Then why do we succumb to temptation when it brings us down?
Like the sugar on a cake- tastes good, makes us fat.
When at the pit of my life, I can only look up to frown.
We stumble, we trip, it's a vicious cycle,
It bothers me so that we cannot defeat what sounds so easy.
On paper, it seems like the prefect plan, "How to conquer sin-"
The label lies, in life application it is low, dirty, and sleezy.
A depressing thought I know, but it's what is on my heart.
Troubling things have been upon me recently,
And what's worse, is that it's all my fault, it's intoxicating.
Enveloped in such sadness and depression, i find it hard to act decently.
I wish I could be better, I wish i could be better.
Just waiting for the next breakdown to start anew.
Surrender and be witness to the rarest of moments,
To God's great power and majesty, as out hearts we will renew..
